While young people are attending CARI, a unique and important service is offered through parallel support services for parents/carers.
Parental support is not therapy, however it is a vital service offered to parents to support both them, and their children. These parental sessions run at the same time as the child’s therapy session.
Parental sessions offer a space for parents to discuss their fears and worries about their child. Coping with the crisis of child sexual abuse can be devastating for parents and it is important that parents are given the space to explore their own concerns and feelings. Support sessions for parents enable them to be available to support and respond appropriately to their child.
